Gabriel, Katie-Jay, Joshua and Jeremiah are still in N’djamena. Fighting has broken out in the capital, it looks like a revolution is happening. Some humanitarian staff have been evacuated, and we’re waiting for more news. UNHCR vehicles were stolen and the capital is under attack. Amidst all the chaos, our team is still uploading video and journals.

DIA Empowers Grant

|

It's a new year and we're happy to announce that we're opening yet another round of DIA Empowers Grants. Since the inception of the grant program, the response from our community has been phenomenal! Over the last year we've awarded 8 grants to very worthy groups from a wide range of issue areas within the progressive movement who are now successfully using the DIA platform, Salsa, to bolster their online efforts. Given this success, we're happy to again offer grants to 5 worthy organizations.

If you've been thinking about trying Salsa, or are already a DIA member with a tight budget, you should apply! You'll receive one year of Salsa free-of-charge (a value of up to 10k).

"Students at Georgetown University participated in a candlelight vigil as a part of the international DarfurFast on October 6, 2006. Participants at high school and college campuses across the country and abroad gave up one luxury item for the day and donated money to civilian protection for Darfurian civilians. The event was sponsored by STAND, a
student anti-genocide coalition, which is the student division of the Genocide Intervention Network."

Salsa in a Box

|

We're constantly amazed by the work our community is doing to further the progressive movement. You've adopted Salsa as the megaphone for your causes, and the result has been inspiring.

We hear through the grapevine that some really amazing work has been done by our members using Salsa over the past year. What are some of YOUR success stories? Grab a cup of fair trade, organic coffee and tell us all about it.

Please submit your story here by January 1st to be eligible.

To make it interesting, we're giving out prizes for the 5 most compelling stories. We've gathered up a bunch of goodies we're calling Salsa in a Box. You can leave your computer chips behind -- this box contains tortilla chips, margarita mix and many other ingredients for a real salsa fiesta.
