SF-Based Outreach & Support Positions

DemocracyInAction is excited to announce the creation of a San Francisco-based office set to begin operating in early-mid summer. We are currently looking for two outstanding candidates to help build the operation and provide strategic and technical support to many California-based organizations we currently work with.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a quickly growing nonprofit organization that helps other organizations successfully grow and organize online.

We’re looking for folks with an entrepreneurial bent with diverse talents and skills to fill these unique and challenging positions that will require participation in many aspects of the organization. This includes: technical and strategic support to a wide range of groups, training, project management, marketing and outreach, development of peer relationships with consultants and other organizations, attending and speaking at conferences; etc.

Candidates should have a least three years of web-related experience, be extremely comfortable with technology and online communications, be able to work well independently, and – most importantly – committed to helping the amazing progressive organizations we work with make the most of the tools we provide and run the most effective online campaigns.

Summary/Purpose:

The SF-based Outreach & Support Manager is a multifaceted position whose overall purpose is to increase the effectiveness of organizations using the DIA toolset and expand the DIA network in California. In this capacity, s/he works most especially with the Director of Client Services, Director of Outreach & Community, and the Executive Director (all based in DC) as a public contact point for California-based DIA member organizations and serves as a point of interface between the technical staff and end users.

Responsibilities include or may include:

- Gaining expert knowledge of the DIA platform
- Providing both technical and strategic training and support both in person and via email/phone
- Growing the California user base and fostering a sense of community among users
- Development of peer relationships
- Helping clients measure and evaluate success
- Web design and/or web development projects using DIA’s API
- Developing new programs to help clients be more effective online
- Developing case studies based on the success of clients to distribute to the broader community
- Documenting and sharing best practices within the DIA community

Requirements:

- Experience working with web-based services and technologies
- Understanding of the nonprofit sector and the particular tech needs of advocacy organizations
- Excellent training skills and patience dealing with non tech-savvy clients
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Self motivation and ability to work in fast-paced environment with little supervision
- HTML proficiency required; basic knowledge of databases and CSS
- Willingness to learn new technologies
